Free anxiety test and frequently asked questions

Araam is a free mental-wellness app in seven languages. Below are straight answers about the free anxiety test, your privacy, the AI chat, and the limits of what an app can do.

The free anxiety test

Is the anxiety test really free?
Yes. The anxiety test is completely free, has no ads and needs no account, email or phone number. You see your result straight away.
Which anxiety test does Araam use?
Araam uses the GAD-7, a seven-question questionnaire widely used by doctors and researchers to screen for generalised anxiety. It takes about two minutes.
How do I read my score?
Scores run from 0 to 21. Around 5 suggests mild, 10 moderate and 15 or more severe anxiety symptoms over the last two weeks. A score of 10 or more is a good reason to talk with a doctor or therapist.
Is the result a diagnosis?
No. The GAD-7 is a screening tool, not a diagnosis. Only a qualified professional can diagnose an anxiety disorder after a full conversation with you.

Privacy

Do I need to sign up?
No. You can use the tests, breathing, meditation, journal and mood tracker without an account. Without an account, your entries stay on your own device.
What happens to my data if I create an account?
Your entries are saved to your account so they follow you across devices. You can also turn on journal encryption with a passphrase only you know, and lock the app with a PIN or fingerprint.
Does Araam show ads or sell data?
No. Araam has no ads and no third-party trackers, and your entries are never sold.

How the chat works

Who answers in the chat?
An AI model answers, guided by Araam's instructions to listen warmly, ask gentle questions and suggest helpful exercises. No human reads your conversation live.
Where do my chat messages go?
To reply, your messages are sent to the AI service. Journal and mood entries made without an account are not sent anywhere.
Is the chat free?
Yes. Without an account you get 10 free messages a day; with a free account you get more.
Which languages does the chat speak?
All seven: English, Persian, Spanish, French, German, Arabic and Russian.

What Araam is not

Is Araam a replacement for therapy?
No. Araam is a self-help companion. It can support you between sessions and help you prepare for one, but it does not diagnose or treat any condition.
Is Araam a crisis service?
No. If you are thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line right away. Araam's safety plan helps you prepare, but it is not a hotline.
Can Araam prescribe or advise on medication?
No. Araam can remind you to take medication you already use, but it never recommends, changes or doses medication. Ask your doctor.
